Needing a Social Media Detox Every Once in a While

~ Needing a Social Media Detox Every Once in a While ~

Its a given, every once and a while its very much needed to take a step back from social media. Not scroll though endless photos of peoples amazing looking lives on Instagram or watch Kylie Jenner's collection of Balmain handbags on Snapchat. Sometimes, Its so much healthier for everyone to remove themselves, put your phone down and look at the world for what it is. I'm victim like many other of spending a little too much time on Social Media.. Twitter and Instagram being my fortress'. Some evenings all I do is continuously scroll through them, tweeting, liking photos etc.etc... having nothing to say I did that evening apart from be on my iPad. Surely that cannot be good can it, although in this day and age I think everyone falls victim for time to time..

Mid last week, I decided to take a full day away from Social Media, not look at my phone, not spend my lunch times in work scrolling Twitter and most importantly, not spend my whole evening on the internet. The sad thing was it actually felt like a challenge but it was a challenge I needed to be able to do because i'd feel like a fail of a human if I admittedly could not go a day without the internet. During that day and evening I actually got so much done and felt amazing. I kept myself busy throughout, doing my washing, going on the running machine and watching a film. I'll admit, it was easier then I thought and made me realise that its OK to have internet fuelled days, its ok to spend time on Social Media, just don't get swallowed up in it.
Its healthy to want to share things on the 'net just don't do me and get engulfed by it. There's a big wide world out there to look at, you not need to feel you're missing out on everything if you don't check Twitter 8 times a day. Its something I find completely enjoyable and find Twitter and Instagram amazing tools for blogging, sharing and even career-shaping, but every once in a while its a great feeling to step back and take a breather - taking a day off sometimes will do your mind (and eyes) all the while!

  3. I find taking time out of the Internet really difficult especially because my job and blogging revolves around it! Sounds amazing though to one day just not, there is a lot of negative stuff on social media so times it's nice to not have to be a part of it :) xx

    1. Aaah if Social Media is part of your job, I think a break would be SO much more difficult, but being on the internet is a pass time for me, so a break can be and needs to be taken sometimes!! xx

  4. Ahhh love the photos <3 so glad you used them! I'm so bad when it comes to having a social media detox. I probably check Twitter about 20 times a day especially since I'm not at work anymore. It's so bad!! But yeah I do agree with you, sometimes we're so busy living vicariously through Kylie Jenner's snapchat that we forget about our own lives. Xxx
