Let's Kick Start The Year With A (Healthy) Drink

~ Some (Healthy) Drinks, Anyone? ~

So, do you have 'Eating and Drink Healthier' on your 2017 Resolution list? or like me do you generally want to steer clear of the Ribena a bit more and drink a little better throughout the year. WELL, in todays post I thought I would put together 3 drinks that are that bit better for you, with less sugar and more of your five a day. I have a jazzed up a drink of water, a smoothies that doesn't taste like it'd be better down the sink and a fruit tea suggestion that's my brightest idea yet (here's a hint, I don't usually have many great ideas haha!) So anyway, if these seem up you're street - keep reading!

~ Water w/ Raspberries, Mint & Lime

Admittedly, I'm not the first or last person to tell you putting fruit in your water makes it taste so much better - well, here's my two pence on a little combination of my own. To be honest I generally like the taste of water on its own, but this way is SO much nicer.
I firstly filled a glass half full of water; cutting half a lime so to squeeze its content (but adding in the squeezed lime too so to get all its flavour) Followed by a hand full of cut up raspberries and cut up mint; UH-MAZING. Such a refreshing taste that will carry you through right till Summer!

~ Pear & Apple Smoothie with Cinnamon

So here's a smoothies idea that was half my own idea and half an adaption from BBC Good Food. Its content being, 2 Pears, 1 Pink Lady Apple, 2 Glasses of Milk, 2 Tablespoons of Ground Cinnamon and 1 Teaspoon of Hazelnut Syrup (optional)
Firstly, I cut up the apples and pear, into small chunks, going on to add the milk. Once all blended together, nice a smooth, I added in the ground cinnamon so to give a little more taste and colour. As I quite like nutty tastes I added a little bit of sweetness of the hazelnut syrup (which does add a little more sugar, but its generally quite a healthy drink!) and voilĂ ! A smoothie I actually like the taste of haha.
~ Strawberry Tea with Kiwi Fruit

And finally, my bright idea! Well, to be honest once I type it out, it will probably not sound that genius, but a the time it felt like a great one. I firstly made a Twining's 'Strawberry & Raspberry' tea, a drink I generally do drink a lot of in work as well as home. BUT, here's were it gets exciting; I cut up a whole kiwi fruit and put it in my tea!!! hahaha. Now, I won't lie to you, you don't get an obvious taste of kiwi fruit in your tea, but want you do get once you have finished your tea is thee most amazing tasting kiwi fruit because the tea has soaked into it - so its like a really nice treat at the end and makes you subconsciously eat one of your 5-a-day! I know I know, I just don't know my genius sometimes...!

Anyway, hope you've enjoyed this post - one of the things I mentioned during Blogmas was I wanted to picture/ write more drinks posts in 2017; well this year is off to a good start!

  3. The pear and apple smoothie sounds amazing, I'd never think to put pear in a smoothie either, I usually just go for banana or berries or something like that!
